Vibe working as new way for humans and AI to work together

You may have heard of “vibe coding”: a person tells an AI what app or feature they want, and the AI writes the code for them. It works, but it’s mostly for developers.

Now the same idea is moving into everyday work and it’s not just about code anymore. It’s called vibe working. A person sits at their computer and chats with an AI agent, tools like Claude (Cowork), ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot. Instead of just answering questions, the agent actually does the task: editing an Excel file, updating a record in your CRM, cleaning up a picture, filling out a form. It can ask other AI agents for help, and it can connect to your company’s apps to get things done. You describe what you need. The agent handles the rest.

With normal AI chat, you get a text answer and you still have to act on it yourself. Vibe working goes one step further. You could say: “update the spreadsheet with this month’s numbers,” “move this lead to the next stage in the CRM,” or “crop and clean up these product photos.” The agent doesn’t just tell you how it goes and does it.

This works because of two things happening behind the scenes:

Agents can connect to your tools. A technology called MCP lets an AI agent safely plug into apps like your calendar, email, or database. Instead of only knowing how to chat, it can actually look things up and take action inside real systems.

Agents can ask other agents for help. Instead of one AI trying to do everything, a task often gets split up. One agent researches, another writes, another checks the numbers. They work together and hand you the finished result you don’t see the back-and-forth, just the outcome.

Vibe coding got a reputation for producing code that “mostly works” but nobody fully understands. Vibe working carries the same risk, just for everyday tasks: if you never check how the proposal was put together or which system the agent touched, you’re trusting work you didn’t see happen. The convenience is real, but so is knowing when to double-check, instead of just accepting the result.
